Требования к кандидату
Required skills
• Ability to quickly learn new technologies, programming languages, protocols, etc
• Good English (everything you will read is going to be in English and you will read a lot)
• Good Linux skills (at least one year of practical experience)
• Solid computer science skills (algorithms, data structures)
• Programming languages: C, shell and some scripting language (Python, Perl, etc)
• Basic knowledge of computer networking (network protocols, network programming, networks design, etc)
Desired skills
• System programming, operating systems design, and Linux kernel knowledge
• Deep understanding of computer networking
• Experience in open source projects development
• Good presentation skills
Обязанности
We are looking for a highly motivated student to join our Network team at Dell EMC Midrange Storage division as an intern. In this role, you are going to work on cutting edge technologies at the intersection of enterprise storage and networking worlds together with experienced engineers working on the most innovative next-generation storage products.
You are going to work on a wide range of research projects in different network related areas including but not limited to
• Linux networking (kernel, containers, drivers, XDP, eBPF, etc)
• Hypervisor networking (QEMU/KVM, ESXi, Hyper-V)
• Network automation and integration with network fabrics
• Storage networking (NVMe-oF, iSCSI, FC, SMB3, NFS)
• Network QoS and performance
The complexity and duration vary from project to project, but most of them include learning of the new technologies, non-trivial research, and development of proofs-of-concept prototypes. Many projects assume active collaboration with the open source community.
Please note that in this role you will work closely with product development groups, but you will not be involved in the product development. Instead, you will work on research of the new technologies and known challenging problems with the expectation that the results of your research will be used in the next versions of the products.
You are also expected to be able to present the results of your research internally and, in some cases, externally (whitepapers, presentations, conference talks).
